Restaurants
We know it can be overwhelming to choose when traveling but here are some of our local pics.
Macrina Bakery - multiple locations, but Ian frequents the Maple Leaf location. Amazing breakfast sandwiches and the Budapest coffee cake are his favorites.
Blue Star - All day eating and a wide variety for everyone. It’s our go-to brunch place.
Thai Ocean - Ian eats here at least once a week. Often twice a week. Fresh spring roles, pumpkin curry, Thai Ocean Noodle Soup, and pad sew ew are stored in our saved orders.
Mioposto - multiple locations but we go to the Ravenna location. Great pizzas, salads, cocktails and desserts. We also like the meatballs, zucchini, and burrata. Also brunch. Basically everything is good.
Pagliacci pizza - A local with locations all over the city. More expensive than your typical pizza place but lots of interesting pizzas and universally recommended in Seattle.
Ezell’s Famous Chicken - Fried chicken, mashed potatoes, beans, and rolls. We usually get the chicken tenders - Colin eats half of them. Multiple locations, but we go to the Wallingford location. Solid…and it is really famous. Featured on Oprah once upon a time.
Din Tai Fung - Locations in University Village and Downtown. Lucy, Cora, and Ian’s favorite. Put your name on a waitlist while you shop.
Muddy Waters - Coffee and refreshers/dirty sodas. Lucy and Cora love it.
45th Stop N Shop & Poke Bar - Hands down best poke bowls I have ever had. Natalie would eat here all the time if I let her. Fun Asian snack foods, looks like a convenience store. We recommend getting a half/half rice/salad bowl with the salmon and/or tuna.
Pablo y Pablo - Great Mexican food. We go for the $5 happy hour tacos. Multiple locations.
Ivars - Nice seafood restaurant, great ambiance. There are both fast food options and indoor dining. Menus vary vastly.
Anthony’s - Nice seafood, good ambiance at downtown location. Many locations.
Tats Deli - Philly cheesesteak sandwiches - Ian says they are the best.
Kozue - Our local sushi place and favorite. We celebrate a lot of birthdays here.
Molly Moons - Good ice cream, lots of locations. We go to both University Village and Wallingford Locations.
Fainting Goat - Gelato. Enough said. Multiple locations, one in Wallingford..
Coffee - so many options but Diva Espresso and Zoka are two solid local choices. Multiple locations, but there are so many to choose from - and we rarely get bad coffee.
Breweries - Seattle is home to many breweries; Fremont Brewing is one of Ian’s favorites. Ballard is home to many, many others.
